William and Madeleine live in a town at the foot of mountains. Married for a long time, faithful to each other and in love, they lead a quiet life. Their daughter, an only child, is moving to Italy. Now they have nobody but themselves to look out for.
During one of her walks in the surrounding hills, Madeleine sets up her easel in front of an old house and meets Adam, a man who is refined, well read and blind. He shows Madeline around the house she is painting, which is for sale. It is love at first sight. William and Madeleine decide to buy it. In the weeks following the sale, William and Madeleine are in a state of bliss.
They organize their new life nearby Adam and his young companion Eva, whose house is only few hundred yards away. When their new friends' house burns to the ground, William and Madeleine want nothing more than to take them in.

Arnaud Larrieu, Jean-Marie Larrieu
Arnaud Larrieu and his brother Jean-Marie are film addicted since their early childhood, thanks to their grandfather, who made altitude films on 16 mm, being in the Hautes-Pyrenees. Still teenagers, they also shot in super-8, before unsuccessfully trying to enter FEMIS. Afterwards they follow literature and philosophy studies. Starting with mid '80, Larrieu brothers shot numerous short, films traveling to festivals all over the world: Court metrage (1987), Temps couvert (1988), Les Baigneurs (1991), Ce jour-la (1992) or Bernard ou les apparitions (1993). It took them two years to brush their first feature scenario, Fin d'ete (1999); the tale of a reunion between an engineer and his father ex-'68 sympathizer.
In 2000, they directed Mathieu Amalric in La Breche de Roland, the story of a family stroll becoming a settling of scores, this charming medium feature is remarked at la Quinzaine des Realisateurs. They shot  Peindre ou faire l'amour in the Alps.
